Access to clean water is a right, not a privilege. Guided by this belief, EFL Global has launched multiple Global Goodness initiatives worldwide, focused on bringing clean, safe drinking water to underserved communities. Project ClearDrop is one of several initiatives focused on delivering practical, long-term solutions.
It is part of an ongoing series of water access projects supported by EFL Global, with the first initiative launched several years ago to address similar needs in underserved communities.
The first ClearDrop project was launched in Medagama, a rural village in Sri Lanka’s North-Central Province. For years, the community faced limited access to clean water, relying on contaminated groundwater that contributed to growing health concerns. In partnership with the Generous Hearts Foundation, EFL funded and implemented a full water purification system. This included a centralized Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, a pipeline network, and a dedicated outlet at the local school to serve students and nearby households.
The project was completed in just over a month. To ensure long-term viability, a local water management committee was formed and trained to oversee operations and maintenance. EFL also pledged to cover the plant’s upkeep during its first year of operation, reducing ongoing costs for the community.
This effort supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation—one of several SDGs integrated into EFL Global’s sustainability framework. These goals help guide environmental and social initiatives across the organization.
